Tata Motors Enters Sulawesi

Tata Motors target light truck and 4×4 DCab market. Company is confident to compete in Makassar

Makassar, 26 July 2016 – After marking its 3,000th sales in less than three years last June, Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI) – the authorized agent of Tata Motors in Indonesia – has further expanded its sales and after-sales network by opening the Tata Motors PT Celebes Prima Sejahtera (CPS) 3S (Sales, Service & Spare parts) dealer in Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan.

PT Celebes Prima Sejahtera (CPS) is the 20th of 3S TMDI dealer which has been formally operated. As per June 2016, TMDI has 69 of 2S (Service and Spare parts) facilities, 6 of 1S (Sales) facilities and 24 spare parts outlets across Java, Bali, Sumatera and Sulawesi.

“Celebes Prima Sejahtera (CPS) is the first Tata Motors dealer in Sulawesi. We selected CPS for its experience in marketing vehicles in Makassar and its proven credibility in the automotive market in Sulawesi. We are confident that CPS will be able to strengthen the Tata Motors brand and market in Sulawesi,” said Biswadev Sengupta, President Director, TMDI.

Makassar has been posting significant economic growths and TMDI has noticed the large amount of potential customers in the city, including for the Tata Motors commercial vehicle highly suitable for mining activities, the double cabin Tata Xenon XT D-Cab 2.2L 4×4.

For plantation, fishery and farming activities, Tata Motors has the Tata Ultra. The Tata Ultra is a light truck that will be formally launched at the next of Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2016 (GIIAS 2016) in August.

Makassar market also will also enjoy the Tata Super Ace 1400 cc which has been the sales backbone of TMDI in the past three years. The vehicle targets small and medium businesses to help them carry building farm produce and building materials. Meanwhile, in the small pickup truck segment, Tata Motors has the diesel-powered Tata Ace EX2 700cc, which is suitable for transporting fishery products.

Tata Motors also have Xenon RX Single cabin Pickup which proving to be a very able workhorse across Indonesia and is expected to do well in Makassar as well.

“In the second quarter of 2016-2017 fiscal year (July-September), TMDI is focused on selling 4×4 double cabin pickup trucks. The inauguration of CPS is in line with our focus. Makassar and Sulawesi in general has been posting quite significant sales of light trucks and double cabin pickups,” Biswadev said.
