Tata Motors Books Record Retail Sales

Achieving 39% retail sales and 145% wholesale

Jakarta, 11 September 2015 – Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI), full subsidiary of Tata Motors Ltd, India’s largest automotive company and authorised agent of Tata Motors in Indonesia, announced that in August 2015 the company recorded the highest retail sales since September 2013.

Despite a slowdown in the national automotive industry, TMDI achieved a 145% wholesale and 39% retail sales increase compared to the previous year. During the April – March fiscal year TMDI booked 67% growth compared to April – August.

“This couldn’t be achieved without hard work from the TMDI team that consistently provide our customers with the best service through all 16 dealers spread across Java, Bali, and Sumatra. The achievement is especially made possible thanks to our customers that have purchased Tata Motors vehicles and helped promote our products after being satisfied with the low operational cost,” said Biswadev Sengupta, President Director of TMDI.

Biswadev added that TMDI will continue to focus on socialising its brand and product line-up directly to its target segments in villages, traditional markets, shops, suburbs, SMEs, and big companies and the government. Moreover, TMDI will continue to expand its 3S (Sales, Service, and Spare parts) dealers and 2S (Tata Certified Workshops), all the while developing its 1S network set to provide aftersales service to close to 2,000 Tata Motors vehicle owners in Indonesia.
