Tata Motors Increases Focus on Angkot Market

Tata Super Ace 1400 cc offers low-capacity diesel engine, more passenger capacity and lower operational cost

Jakarta, March 15 2015 – PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI), a subsidiary of India’s biggest automotive producer, Tata Motors Ltd, said it will be more serious in marketing the Tata Super Ace 1400 cc in the segment of public transportation, or Angkutan Kota (Angkot). The Tata Super will be marketed through the Angkot Cooperative and communities of Angkot owners in Indonesia.

Positive response has been received by the Tata Super Ace 1400 cc from Angkot owners in the Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi) region since its launch in October 2013. In December 2013, dozens of Tata Super units were sold in Tangerang, Banten.

“The Angkot in Indonesia is very promising. Each month, 1,000-1,500 units of the pickup vehicle, modified into Angkot cars, are sold and we are motivated to compete in the big market with our diesel pickups that are more fuel efficient and offer bigger earnings for Angkot owners,” said Biswadev Sengupta, president director, TMDI.

Over 70 units of Tata Super Ace Angkot vehicles are serving routes in the Jabodetabek and West Java. Meanwhile, 100 units are being modified into Angkot vehicles at a coachbuilder. Fifty-three units will serve routes in Bandung, West Java.

TMDI is confident the new brand will be a preferred choice in the Angkot market because Tata Motors guarantees added value to Angkot owners, drivers and customers.

TMDI is supported by the Sales, Service, and Spare Parts (3S) workshops in 16 cities in Indonesia and 60 2S (Service and Spare Part) points or the Tata Certified Workshop spread across Java, Bali and Sumatra.

The advantage of Tata Super Ace Angkot units is that it offers bigger passenger capacity. The strong torsion is supported by a 1,400 cc Turbo diesel engine. The units are also more fuel efficient as it uses the cheaper Solar diesel fuel rather than Premium fuel.

Last but not least, the Tata Super Ace guarantees lower overall operational costs compared to other products of the same type. Furthermore, with genuine fast-moving spare parts, Tata Motors can offer 50 percent cheaper prices than competitors.

Tata Motors can be seen serving the routes of Cilandak – Jagakarsa, Pasar Minggu – Jagakarsa, Pulo Gadung – Kampung Melayu, Parung – Depok, Ciputat – Kebayoran Lama, Cikarang – Karawang and several other routes in Bandung and Medan.

Tata Motors has an after sales and customer care program themed ‘Peace of Mind’, which offers; Best in Class Warranty Program, 24-hour On-road Assistance, and 1×24 hour free spare-part guarantee.
