Jakarta, 28 October 2014 – Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI), a full subsidiary of Tata Motors Ltd., India’s largest global automotive company and Authorized Agent of Tata Motors in Indonesia, has trained over 150 mechanics to be placed in its dealer network.
No less than 150 students have graduated from the Tata Motors Learning Centre (TMLC) in the Center for Development of Vocational Training Abroad (BBPLKLN), Centre for Vocational & Extension Service Training (Cevest). The students will support the after-sales service of 8 TMDI 3S (sales, service and spare parts) dealers and 39 2S (service and spare parts) Tata Certified Workshops (TCW).
As a result of the cooperation between BBPLKLN Cevest and TMDI, the students have their own special class and practice area in BBPLKLN Cevest. TMDI has provided all of its product variants, including diesel engines, and other technical facilities to support its student training.
“They are the spearhead of the company and hold an important role of providing stellar after sales service. If the aftersales service is good, we are sure consumer loyalty will be built. We are constantly updating the training module in accordance to Tata Motor’s global training standards, so that we can increase our mechanic’s skill and competitiveness,” said Biswadev Sengupta, President Director of TMDI.
The training materials are delivered one module at a time. As of right now there are 6 training modules: Product Familiarization, Technical 1, Basic Electrical, Technical 2, Engine Management System and Advance Electrical. Each module training takes 4 to 5 work days.
To increase the skill and knowhow of the mechanics, after a theoretical class they would immediately proceed on to a unit practice session. There are four practice units in Cevest: Small Commercial, Light Commercial, Heavy Commercial and Passenger.
